Raees 1st Day Box Office Collection

Raees 1st Day Box Office Collection: The first big release of the year, Shahrukh Khan’s Raees hit the screens today. The film had excellent buzz and hype before the release despite so many delays. There was also a clash with Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaabil. Well, it seems that the SRK starrer has got an extraordinary opening at the box office. Check out Raees collection report for the opening day.

Raees 1st Day Box Office Collection

As per the trade estimates, Raees 1st day box office collection will be in the range of 21.50 crores. The film has fared very well in the late night shows.

Raees started the day with a bang. The overall occupancy in the morning shows was 60%. All the major circuits Mumbai, Gujarat, Rajasthan opened very well. It set the box office on fire in West Bengal where it opened to 75-80% occupancy. The film showed growth in the noon shows as the occupancy went up to 65-70%. The real magic started to begin in the evening when the holiday advantage came into the picture. It has given a huge boost to Raees collection.

At many places, Raees is recording housefull shows in the evening and night. Not only single screens but even multiplexes are showing huge turnaround despite the fact that the film is massy. It is due to Shahrukh Khan who is still among the top 3 biggest crowd pullers at the Indian box office. The actor was coming after one underperformer Dilwale and one flop Fan. Yet the opening is one of the highest of all time.

Raees is average in East Punjab which is probably due to the genre as the film is Gujarat-based. Delhi/UP is decent but could have been better. Raees has outside chances to set an all-time opening day record in West Bengal which would be an unbelievable achievement. In terms of occupancy, Raees opening is the best since Salman Khan starrer Sultan. It is better than Christmas release Dangal and even better than Sultan at some places. This is an incredible achievement considering that Sultan was a partial holiday release whereas Raees is facing a clash with Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaabil.

A lot has also been said about the box office clash between Raees and Kaabil. But it has turned out to be one-sided clash as far the opening day is concerned. Raees 1st day collection will be double than Kaabil opening day. Last year Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Rustom. Despite the negativity, Mohenjo Daro opened to around 9 crore and there was 5 crore difference between the opening. This says a lot about the stardom and clearly shows that the three Khans stand way ahead of rest of the actors.

Raees 1st day collection will be the 3rd highest for any Shahrukh Khan starrer. His best are Happy New Year and Chennai Express. The opening day has crossed Dilwale and Fan. Raees box office collection on day 1 will also be the second highest ever in January and also has chances to beat Hrithik Roshan starrer Agneepath. Though the highest single day record for January is out of reach. Dangal released last year collected a whopping 32 crore on 1st January.

The advance booking for tomorrow is very high as it is a National holiday. Raees collection will definitely show growth but it will be interesting to note the gap between both new releases. As Kaabil is also expected to show big gains tomorrow.
